How long are appointments?

First appointments are on average 40 minutes and include a full assessment & treatment. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes.

If you’ve never been to a physiotherapist before then rest assured that there’s nothing to worry about. Your first visit will include a thorough assessment to establish exactly what you are suffering from and so determine the best way to treat it. We take into account your lifestyle and give practical advice on how to prevent the injury happening again.

Below are answers to many questions people have before their first treatment.  If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

First Visit and FAQs

Can you see me straight away?

Yes. We can usually see you within 24 - 48 hours. Sometimes same-day appointments are available. We also operate a cancellation list so you could be contacted sooner if an earlier appointment becomes available.

Our friendly receptionist will arrange your appointment for you and answer any questions you may have.

Will I be given exercises?

Yes. We will always give advice on the management of conditions and appropriate exercises to do in between treatments, to optimise the recovery process. Tailor made exercise sheets are also sometimes given for you to take home.

Can I refer myself?

Yes. You can make an appointment without a referral from your GP although some insurance companies may require this if you have Private Health cover.

I have Private Medical Insurance - am I covered with you?

Yes. We are recognised by all the major insurance companies, as we are all Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapists, including: AXA PPP, Aviva, PruHealth, HSA and Bupa. You will need to check with your insurance company prior to treatment, as some companies require a referral from a Doctor beforehand.

May I know your payment terms?

Yes. Payment is made after each consultation either by cheque or cash. Receipts are available for health insurance companies.

Do you know how many treatments I will need?

Yes. Although we do not have a set number of treatments for any condition - each patient is an individual. However, following your first appointment the Physiotherapist will discuss the anticipated number of treatments.

You will be reassessed on each visit.

Will I always see the same Physiotherapist?

Yes. We are sure that you would prefer to be seen by the same Physiotherapist during your series of treatments.

Will I be expected to do anything in between treatments?

Yes, yes, yes!!! We will always give advice on the management of conditions and appropriate execises to do in between treatments to optimize the recovery process. Tailor made exercise sheets are available for you to take home.

Can I have a home visit?

Yes. Sometimes it is necessary to visit patients at home but this is usually only required after surgery or if a patient is housebound and unable to travel. The cost of a Home Visit has to include travel time from the clinic and so this does increase the cost of treatment. Please telephone for more details.
